Albanian President Ilir Meta said there is still a lot of work to be done in order to have a fully functional Constitutional Court.
President Meta stressed that the Constitutional Court, which has already become operational, is one of the most important institutions in the country.
"The Constitutional Court has been and will be the most important institution in the country, as in any country where the rule of law rules. The president has made every effort so that the country is not left without a Constitutional Court, but there is still work needed to have a fully functional court", said Meta.
The Head of State also had a message for the new members of this court: "For the president, the functioning of the Constitutional Court is essential and I hope that for all members of this court who have become part of it and will become part have maximum responsibility to understand the importance of this institution, for the rule of law, for the rights of citizens, to protect democracy. I will support the independence of this institution and the independence of other institutions."
On Wednesday, the sixth member of the Constitutional Court was chosen and this very important justice institution became functional after two years. However, there are still three other members to be chosen, in order to have it fully completed.
