Former Albanian Foreign Minister Besnik Mustafai was a guest of Adi Krasta on his A Show on Syri TV to speak about the recent protests and the opposition’s approach.

“I think the opposition has a problem with the attacks from the majority, with the intensive propaganda, with the support of the foreign embassies of the messages against the violence; all this made the opposition refrain.  In my opinion, this is unfair. The opposition should have done its duty, not to take advantage of the situation, but to articulate the concerns of the youth”, Mustafaj said.

“Today’s teenagers are wonderful, they are not lowlifes. I’m not speaking from the position of opposition, I started criticizing the opposition. The teenagers did not break a private window, no private property. But of course, there are no angry people that take the streets holding flowers in their hands”, said Mustafai, adding there was a disproportion of violence.

“Police effectives that beat someone that is neutralized, this is punishable by law. The police have exceeded their duty”.

Considering Rasha’s murder and the aftermath, Mustafai said: “From what the media and the prosecution said, I believe that the media have been the most honest party, a good part of them. Police have been the most dishonest party, which has infringed the law, tried to manipulate the facts. They spoke about a handgun at the place of the incident, which is not true. This proves police were out of their duty and the demand for Ardi Veliu’s resignation is quite legitimate”.
