Former Albanian Premier Sali Berisha responded to Premier Edi Rama’s accusations that he was the one that inspired and orchestrated the youth protests after Klodian Rasha’s murder by the police officer Nevaldo Hajdëraj.

“I’d like to hail with my biggest respect all those hundreds and thousands youths that filled Tirana’s streets and squares for justice and protest against the state execution behind the 25-year-old back”, Berisha said, speaking for Çim Peka LIVE on Syri TV.

“I’m telling them: You have defended the honour of the Albanian society. You did a valuable service to your country. You were brave and invincible facing a regime that is led by the son of an executioner, a regime that fired teargas and water cannons”.

“I’d like to say that Rama’s accusations only honour me. It would have been a great honour to have been their organizer or inspirer. I know I am not, but I am their big admirer. They did not ask for permission, they honoured themselves”, Berisha said.

Berisha also added that the later Klodian Rasha is not the Albanian George Floyd, but Enea Ftoi is, the Roma young man that died from the police violence in Korça. Despite his death, the prosecution office dropped the charges against the police officer.

“Klodian Rasha is no George Floyd. Enea Ftoi was the Albanian George Floyd. No one was worried for him, only because he was a Roma. The Albanian racists murdered him in the police station and declared themselves not guilty. In a police state, the police have murders as their passion”, Berisha said.
