The Albanian Democratic Party (PD) has filed a complaint against Director General of the State Police Ardi Veliu for five criminal offenses committed during the protests of the last days. The complaint was addressed to the Special Prosecution (SPAK), which must require the suspension of Veliu until the end of the investigation.

PD has argued in details how Veliu has infringed the law, committing five criminal offenses like:

1. Abuse of office.

2. Performing arbitrary acts.

3. Denying the right of expression, gathering and manifesting.

4. Other intentional damages.

5. Failure of taking preventive measures for the unlawful situation.

PD noted that “in the peaceful protests against the police repression and government abuse occurred an exaggerated use police violence and crazy use of teargas. Teargas was fired in huge quantities in the boulevard and residential areas with a high density of citizens that were not participants in the protests”.

Concrete evidence put at SPAK’s disposal proves that, per Veliu’s order, barbarian violence was exercise on minors and anyone moving in the streets was detained by the police, even without participating in the protests”.
