Members of the Youth Forum of the Democratic Party (FRPD) marched from the Ministry of the Interior to the prime ministry in the Albanian capital Tirana protesting against the murder of Klodian Rasha, 25, by a police patrol on December 8. Rasha was shot dead because he did not obey the order to stop, presumably to escape a fine for having violated the coronavirus curfew.

The young protesters said justice is needed for Klodian, adding this is a criminal government. They held banners reading “You’re murderers”, “Justice for Klodian”, “Step down”, “Rama go”, “This is the crime’s government”.

“We demand (Interior Minister) Sandër Lleshaj’s immediate resignation. We want justice for this macabre act. One needs to wear a bulletproof vest instead a Covid mask not to be murdered by the State Police”, a protester said.

“An Albanian citizen was murdered at his house door and this is a shame. Anyone who feels Albanian must join the protest, not watch from their places”.

A young woman said Albania is experiencing today a moderate communism, adding all the youth must demand justice for Klodian.

Head of FRPD Belind Këlliçi said there’s too much indignation for this case.

“Rama is in America while Albanians are dying in the streets. Sandër Lleshaj is a criminal. This man had artists arrested, this garbage, who is responsible for the murder? This is a criminal act. We must all unite and react. This evil that has caught us by our throats must go. Shame on the government, shame on the Interior Minister and the Prime Minister, who said nothing about the murder”, Këlliçi said.
