The Democratic Party (PD) has sound the alarm about the coronavirus situation in the schools all over the country. Former Democrat MP Albana Vokshi said 10 teachers have lost their lives from Covid-19 whereas hundreds and thousands of teaching staff and pupils are in self-imposed lockdown, with the government failing to guarantee the minimal conditions in the schools.
Vokshi blamed Prime Minister Edi Rama, saying he is responsible for the serious situation.
“Ten teachers have lost their lives from the start of the school year, but they have been considered as mere statistics by the government. The situation in schools is alarming and out of control. Schools are today among the most dangerous hotspots of the virus diffusion because the government doesn’t care for the health of pupils and teachers. Edi Rama is interested only in using them for politics and power”, Vokshi said in a video recorded outside the prime ministry building.
She requested the shutdown of the schools that do not meet the hygienic criteria and massive testing for teachers and pupils, adding there are 600 infected among the teaching staff.
