Albanian Premier Edi Rama has given a quick response to the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi concerning the Electoral Code. The Hungarian diplomat suggested Rama’s Socialist majority should wait for a response from the Venice Commission before revoting the changes to the Electoral Code, with President Ilir Meta returned to the parliament.

Rama hurried to reject Varhelyi’s suggestion, tweeting that his majority will pass the Code again, without changes to the July 30 draft.

“Venice’s opinion is always welcomed, but for a law that is voted (by the parliament) and refused by the President, the procedure is clear: The President’s refusal is either accepted or rejected by the parliament! The Parliament will express itself without wasting even a day”, Rama tweeted.

“This President, active as an extremist against the parliament and the Albanian government, cannot take hostage anyone besides the institution he has already taken hostage. Venice’s opinion is welcomed at any time, but the time for the elections is waiting for no one”.

Opinioni i Venacias është gjithmonë i mirëpritur nga Edvini, njëlloj si letra higjenike e Mrike Kodhelit.
