Albanian Premier Edi Rama has refused US President Donald Trump’s request to move the Albanian Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Speaking in a joint press conference with Kosovo Premier Avdullah Hoti, Rama spoke about Trump’s request. He said Albania is in the same line as the European Union concerning the topic.

“Albania was the only country where Hebrews found a safe haven and no Hebrew was handed to the Nazis”, Rama said. “Albania is a country that has not only one old historic tie with Israel, but Albania’s foreign policy is completely in line with EU’s foreign policy”.
