Albanian Premier Edi Rama has reacted after the Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ statement over the extension of Greek territorial waters to 12 nautical miles. Rama wrote on his Facebook page that there is misinformation and Mitsotakis’ declaration is correct and in accordance with the Convention on the Law of the Sea.

“The maritime border is not like the fence between two houses and when the Greek authorities say they will extend from 6 to 12 miles it doesn’t mean Greece will swallow Albanian territorial waters, but only that the neighbor country is exercising the rights that comes from the Convention on the Law of the Sea, approved in Montego Bay in 1982”, Rama wrote.

“The Socialist Party and I may have many faults, we may make mistakes, but never ever will we use power to harm the national interest”.
