Neither today’s declaration from Germany nor US Ambassador Yuri Kim’s call for full political consensus for the constitutional changes have convinced Albanian Premier Edi Rama to retract from his July 30 plan.

Addressing to the parliament today, Rama was clear that the constitutional changes will be approved in the July 30 session while the other issues will be discussed on a later date.

Rama said the June 5 agreement will not be violated and insisted that after the changes to the Constitution the parties may discuss for the electoral issues, like the open lists and pre-electoral coalitions.

“Whether you like it or not, on July 30 we’ll vote the constitutional changes. The Democratic Party should not bother discussing the July 30. We are for the dialogue and communication with all. I have not refused to talk with Lulzim Basha, it is Lulzim Basha who refused to talk with me. There is time to discuss about the coalitions”, Rama said in the parliament today.
