Albanian President Ilir Meta met Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha today in the President’s Office today, inviting the later to keep calm and stand firm to the June 5 agreement intermediated by the international community.

“You have an important role with your calmness and responsibility to cooperate with the European partners and the democratic world. I have underlined during the artificial tensions in our country that disputes in Albania are not casual, every time there are developments in the region. Please keep the self-control”, Meta is understood to have told Basha.

“What unites us today are the Constitution and Albania’s EU integration. It is important not to be adventurous with the Constitution”.

“I would ask from you to stay loyal to the agreement reached with the representatives of the majority and keep calm in the moments of efforts to violate seriously and criminally the Constitution in order to destroy any kind of legitimacy of the country’s institutions”.

Meta said never before an agreement was denied before “its ink dried out”.
