Albanian President Ilir Meta has denounced the pressures exerted on him by the Socialist majority related to the candidatures for the new head of the State Supreme Audit (KLSH). Meta addressed an official letter to Speaker of the Parliament Gramoz Ruçi, referring to the majority’s bill to appoint a vice chairman of KLSH.

“So far I have been put before the done fact of rejecting my proposals for three candidatures for the KLSH. All the three candidatures met the legal criteria and had a broad professional experience. A campaign started in the media for the approval of a bill for the appointment of the vice chairman of KLSH. Political pressure to propose a candidature wanted for long by the majority. This act of the Parliament shows a lack of will to cooperate with the President”, President Meta wrote in his letter to Speaker Ruçi, saying it is the same approach like during the appointment of the Constitutional Court members.

The President has asked the current head of KLSH Bujar Leskaj to stay in office until the appointment of his successor.
