Albanian Premier Edi Rama insists in protecting his long-time dream of demolishing the National Theater which he turned into reality last Sunday, when the building was pulled down to make space for commercial towers.

Addressing to the parliament today, Rama went even further, saying the building of the National Theater was not the work of an Italian architect because the war had started by that time and it was not finished entirely. He called the Theater as “the bastard child” of the Italian architect, saying even the later did not recognize the building as his creature, because the project was never finished because of the war.

“The author never recognized it as his creature. That project started but did not finish… The building of the Theater is the bastard child of a relationship between the Italian author and the Fascist war that needed to feed with money and wheat cultivated in the parks of Tirana”, Rama said.
