Albanian Premier Edi Rama has denied there was police violence against protesters on Sunday, after the demolition of the National Theater. Hundreds of Albanian citizens, actors, activists and politicians protested against the demolition, but police responded brutally to their peaceful protest.
Speaking for the television News24, Rama said the police behavior during the rally was “European behavior”, denying the violence scenes, ignoring the fact they occurred before the eyes of all.
“The state police behaved like a European police. I have seen no scene, no image, no proof of the opposite”, Rama said.
The Prime Minister also advised the Prosecution Office not to start any inquiry over the police violence on the citizens at the Theater.
