Albanian President Ilir Meta met today the Ambassadors of Greece, Kosovo, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia to share information and ideas related to the situation created by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The participants in the meeting shared the opinion that the measures imposed in the Balkan countries were effective and now a coordination of steps is necessary for entering the phase of easing the restrictions.

The President and the Ambassadors agreed a gradual and cautious opening of the borders, as well as the easing of the restrictive measures, would give new breath and an impulse to the economy in general and to tourism in particular, as an import branch of the Balkans’ economies.

Presidenti Meta highlighted that the pandemic and the earthquake of November 26, 2019 showed how important the relations of good neighborhood are. He assured that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Albania remains focused to fulfill in time all the conditions set by the Council of Europe.
