Albanian President Ilir Meta has expressed his concern following the annual report of Freedom House on democracy and media freedom in the world, which said the democracy in Albania is in decline. The President called for reflection.

“(I am) deeply concerned by the conclusions of the Freedom House report. The decline in the democracy level index, the drop in the national democratic governance electoral process demand reflection and responses from all”, Meta wrote.

“It’s time for an immediate re-rise and for a new trajectory of democracy, rule of law, and respect of the human rights, in order to fulfill as soon as possible the conditions set forward by the European Union, aiming the full integration of the country without further delay”.
