The Municipality of Tirana announced on Wednesday the decision to close all the city public transport as a precaution to the spread of coronavirus. However, the bus operators have ignored the decision and continued work as normally today morning.

Images of 7:00 am in Kamza and in the entrance to the Albanian capital show quite the opposite, with buses full of people.

Albanian Premier Edi Rama said the ban of bus lines will take effect at noon.

"From noon today, there will be no urban transport in Tirana and Durrës. We are preparing the dedicated transport for doctors and nurses”, Rama wrote.
