American singer Bebe Rexha offered to help her country of origin Albania at the wake of the devastating earthquake of last November, promising to fund the rebuild of two houses. However, more than two months later, she has not been given the construction permit by the Albanian government,

The fact was made public today by Monika Kryemadhi, Chairwoman of the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) and wife of President Ilir Meta, who accompanied Rexha in Bubq, one of the villages where she promised to help.

It is a proof that shows how low the Albanian government has plunged into corruption and bureaucracy. Kryemadhi, who is also e relative of the singer, reminded to Albanian Premier Edi Rama his promise of issuing the construction permits within five days for the construction of the new houses after the earthquake.

“… Bebe Rexha promised to build two houses. The one in Bubq was the house of two orphans that were living there with their grandparents. The young ones were students and the grandparents helped them with their pension money”, Kryemadhi said today, explaining the money for the project was paid by Rexha, the relevant documents were ready and yet, nearly three months later, there is no building permit, with the excuse they need a “development permit” first!

The same thing appears in Biza, the other village where Rexha promised to help, where permit has been terribly stalled.

The two families signed forms where they declare they will be renouncing government’s money for the rebuild of their houses after securing help from Bebe Rexha, but they continue to live in tents waiting for the construction permits for their new houses.
