Kosovo former Premier Ramush Haradinaj has appealed to his successor Albin Kurti not to lift the 100% tariff on goods imported from Serbia. Haradinaj’s government imposed the tariff as a response to Serbia’s efforts against Kosovo’s membership in Interpol and stood firm in his position despite the international pressure to remove it.

Writing on his Facebook page, Haradinaj suggested Kurti should not lift the tariff unless Serbia recognizes Kosovo as an independent nation.

“Albin,

You have offered to lift the tariff and in exchange you have been offered the return to the dialogue process, now consumed and compromised.

Do not lift the tariff for the return to a process that is already consumed and compromised, but ask for a final agreement for mutual recognition in the existing borders”, Haradinaj advises Kurti, promising support from his party if the current Kosovar Prime Minister chooses to follow the advice. In a different scenario, Haradinaj warns Kurti that he will be held accountable for the consequences.
