The Democratic Party has requested today the indictment of Premier Edi Rama for the donation he made to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in the United States.
Former Democrat MP Enkelej Alibeaj said two persons are already in prison in the United States for the $80,000 affair whereas the third is still free.
Rama paid the aforementioned sum in a fundraising event only to make a picture with the US President.
“All Albanians, the media, and the politic prosecution know as a true fact, proved by the US judiciary, that Edi Rama’s picture with Barack Obama was made through an illegitimate donation of $80,000”, Alibeaj said.
“Three persons are respoinsible: Bilal Shehu, William Argeros, Edi Rama. Two of them are already serving sentences. The third, Edi Rama, continues to be above the law. Edi Rama must be indicted, because the sum of $80,000 comes from an unlawful source and has not been declared either by Rama or the Socialist Party”, said Aliabeaj, calling for the Albanian authorities to follow suit of the standards of the US justice.
