Albanian Colonel Dritan Demiraj, a security expert, rejected the idea of an imminent threat from Iran to Albania, saying the Qud Force or clandestine units “would not dare attack Albania because they would face extraordinary consequences”.

Speaking with Syri TV, Col. Demiraj based his belief on Albania’s NATO membership and the strong relations with the United States.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei attacked verbally Albania as an “evil small country” due to its alliance with the United States and giving refuge to some 3000 Iranian MEKs.

“In the framework of NATO and excellent relations with the United States, Albania admitted a group of Mujahedin, first 250 then 3000. We are proud for the extraordinary cooperation with the United Stastes, but not only that. The admission of these persons has increased significantly NATO’s and US respect for the Republic of Albania”, Demiraj said, adding that a NATO response to a possible Iran attack on Albania would be devastating for the Middle East country.
