The Democratic Party (PD) has requested from the Prosecution Office to verify the integrity of another Mayor, after they did in the past for the Mayors of Shkodra, Vora, and Vau i Dejës. This time, PD have raised suspicions about the figure of the Mayor of Mallakastra Qerim Ismailaj.

Democrat Secretary General Gazment Bardhi said Qerim Ismailaj is banned from running for and getting elected in a high public function because he is suspected to have been arrested in Greece and expelled from the neighboring country in the period 1999-2000.

Information obtained by PD shows that Ismailaj has falsified the form of decriminalization, answering negatively to questions whether he has ever been arrested or detained by foreign judiciary authorities and if he has ever been expelled by another country.

According to the law on the decriminalization, fake personal data in the form of decriminalization is a penal offense with immediate disqualification from candidacy or exercising further the public function.
