Albanian President Ilir Meta doesn’t even think of a possible resignation from his post, saying that would be an act of “open, flagrant and unforgivable treason to Albania and the Albanian nation”.

He added the enemies of the country would be happy if that happened, because they would not face any longer “a credible institution, elected democratically and lawfully that would say the truth to our friends in the whole world”. According to Meta, Albania has a lot of friends but it also has “a lot of enemies that work against our interests”.

“A resignation would not help for solutions, but for a total seizure of the state. I will protect the Constitution of Albania from the government, parliament, opposition, any foreigner who is likely to violate it. Let them go and violate their countries’ constitutions. They earn millions of Euros and Dollars and are never held accountable”, Meta said.
