Former Foreign Minister Kastriot Islami commented the so-called Balkanic mini-Schengen saying it is a Serbian initiative that Albanian Premier Edi Rama decided to join after receiving the EU’s “slap”.

“Albania has failed in respect of the EU integration and the culprit is Edi Rama. The interregional cooperation has priority in the framework of EU integration, but Rama started this challenge in the moment after he received a ‘slap’ by EU”, Islami told Fax News today.

“Rama is inept, like a dirty student. The problem is complicated furthermore because the initiative has not been discussed with anyone within the Socialist Party or other political forces. There is no consult with the President of the Republic”.

“The lack of transparence makes one deal with the perception, because there is no transparent content. Rama tries to mask it by giving away only pieces. The only think that grabbed my intention was President Meta’s meeting with the son of George Soros. I believe – I could be wrong though – that this is an initiative of Serbian origin. Soros is interested in keeping his influence in his leadership in the Balkans, which is Vucic, Rama, and Zaev. That’s why Soros (junior) was in Tirana during the Summit of Vucic, Rama and Zaev, for the mini-Schengen”, Islami said.
