The earthquake of November 26 shed light on the real Albania, poor and stolen, it revealed the incapacity and abuses of a government that had focused all it attention on the façades and projects with ten oligarch as beneficiaries.

The government’s failure to manage the situation is felt even more today, as is felt the criminal negligence after the earthquake of September for the damaged objects that eventually caused casualties.

More than two weeks from the earthquake, entire families haven’t taken any help; in the cases when they were lucky they had to wait for hours or wander in offices to receive a coupon.

In many cases, the aids delivery has been made selectively for acquaintances and kin in addition to political party preferences. Without the volunteer help, many families wouldn’t have had food for their children.

Many families are still under open sky and helpless in the cold. He citizens say they do not know the persons tasked with the management of the situation, meanwhile there is no information on the funds at disposal for the emergency.

No transparence about the time when the reconstruction of the damaged buildings will begin, how it will be made, about the granted funds, and many other questions without answers.

People are still unclear what will happen with their houses. The inspection groups are chaotic. There are several decisions for a single object. For hundreds of others there aren’t any inspections or decisions yet. The residents live in anxiety for their lives and also for their houses, the only things they have from their lives’ work.

Today we have entered into the third week after the tragedy and yet we do not have any full evidence about:

• The number of damaged buildings,

• The number of uninhabitable condos,

• The number of citizens that remained homeless,

• The number of citizens sheltered in hotels and those under open sky,

• The list of the damaged objects for which there isn’t yet a decision to be pulled down,

• The damaged schools and when they were built or reconstructed.

It’s alarming that the citizens say “no expert has come to estimate if the apartment is inhabitable or not”, “we haven’t received any aid”, “we live under open sky”, “the government is inexistent”.

The government is not acting, it’s only making shows and mockery of the tragedy.

This is unacceptable! This is a mockery of the citizens amongst the Europe’s poorest.
