Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha met today the Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio whom he thanked for Italy’s help at the wake of the November 26 earthquake. Basha said an earthquake is a natural misfortune, but it showed how prepared the government was to face such emergencies.

“God forbid, if that disaster repeats, we’ll still be unprepared”, Basha said. “The government’s duty is to help the people, to mobilize all engineers, implement the law on natural disasters and cancel the €150 million concessions of the oligarchs”.

Basha also commented Premier Edi Rama’s attacks on media and free speech: “The intimidating attitude against the media, journalists and analysts is an unnecessary product in this time of crisis”.
