Chief of the Albanian opposition Lulzim Basha has reacted after the request of the Prosecution Office to indict former Democrat MP Ervin Salianji and other persons in relation to the Xhafaj scandal, with a confession made by the citizen Albert Veliu leading to the imprisonment of the then-Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj’s brother in Italy.

“Thirty years after the collapse of the dictatorship, Edi Rama returns the political trials against the opposition in Albania”, Basha wrote.

“To punish Ervin Salianji for denouncing with facts the involvement of the Interior Minister’s brother in the drugs traffic, Edi Rama used two corrupt prosecutors, Kolë Hysenaj and Genci Qana, which today tried to put into life the failed scenario of shutting the opposition’s mouth. No one will ever be able to shut neither Salianji’s nor any Democratic Party representative’s mouths. Our fight against the organized crime and exposure of its links with Edi Rama’s government will never stop”.
