Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha achieved a victory in the Congress of the European People’s Party (EPP) in Zagreb, Croatia, where Europe’s most important political formation voted in favor of a resolution for the situation in Albania, appealing for a solution to the crisis and holding free and fair elections.

The resolution voted unanimously is one of the most powerful ever made against the governanance in Albania.

Political pundit Ergys Mërtiri wrote on Lapsi.al that the EPP resolution was a powerful fist against Albanian Premier Edi Rama. He added the German CDU has started on open season on Rama.

“They speak about a deep constitutional crisis, which is inexistent for Rama; the request the establishment of a Constitutional Court that must rule on the legitimacy of the June 30 elections; they speak about the votes theft, the involvement of the organized crime in the elections and its links to politics, which they consider as unacceptable for the European standards. The resolution shows direct, open support for the Democratic Party as a political force that is making efforts to address the countries legitimate concerns”, Mërtiri writes, adding the resolution is interpreted as a call for political rotation in Albania, which was also implied by the Bundestag’s resolution.
