Former President Bujar Nishani spoke to media reporters after a meeting he had with his successor Ilir Meta in the President’s Office today concerning the constitutional crisis in Albania.

Nishani said President Meta and he had a “very understanding and important meeting” and that any citizen should be preoccupied due to the anarchy surrounding the Constitutional Court and the “barbaric hits” against the Constitution and the Judiciary Reform.

“The Parliament and the Socialist majority not only do not recognize the President’s rights, but they also do not respect a single article of the Constitution”, Nishani said, referring to the dismissal of the Judge of the Constitutional Court Besnik Muçi in the capacity of prosecutor by the vetting commission.

“Besnik Muçi in the capacity of a prosecutor does not exist ever since the day he was appointed a Judge of the Constitutional Court, ever since that day he is no longer a subject (of the vetting process). His case today showed the professional level of persons that have been trusted with the vetting process. The parliament must start a probe and fire them due to their scandalous professional level”, Nishani said.
