Former vice Prime Minister and minister of Agriculture Niko Peleshi has been interrogated by Tirana Prosecution Office following the accusations made by the Democratic Party (PD) that he allowed harmful pesticides to enter the country.

Tirana’s Prosecution Office started its inquiry on September 4 after PD declared Peleshi, during his tenure as the minister of agriculture, had ordered to fill the markets with 4600 liters of poison named Silicon Mix.

Silicon Mix is a pesticide that is used frequently by the farmers cultivating cherries to kill the bugs a little before harvesting the fruits. Experts say Silicon Mix alters the human DNA and its use has other side effects.
