The newly elected mayor of Vau i Dejës, Mark Babani, has been sentenced in Italy over car theft. This is the announcement made today by Secretary General of the Democratic Party (PD) Gazmend Bardhi.

“Mark Babani was arrested on April 4, 1994, in Sicily, under the alias Marq Babaj”, Bardhi told media reporters from the PD headquarters.

“Instead of firing him, Rama protects Babani the same way he did with Pjetri and Kajmaku”.

“Edi Rama owns an explanation to the citizens of Shkodra to tell them why he chose (as the Socialist candidate) Valdrin Pjetri, a drugs trafficker, to represent Shkodra. Edi Rama has the obligation to tell the citizens of Vora why he chose a fraud and money forger as Agim Kajmaku as the head of the municipality”.

“Edi Rama must admit full responsibility and explain today why he decided to identify himself with a criminal like Mark Babani i Vau i Dejës”, Bardhi said.

The Democrat Sec-Gen then showed a document obtained from the state prison system of Italy, which proves that Mark Babani, under the fake name Marq Babaj, was arrested on April 4, 1994, in the area of Sicily, over car theft in collaboration with others. He was kept in custody till May 6, 1994 and was sentenced and expelled from the Italian territory.
