The Alliance for the Protection of the National Theater (AMT) has reported today in Tirana’s district Prosecution Office the deputy mayor of the Albanian capital, Arbër Mazniku, and the businessman Shkëlqim Fusha over the sponsoring by the later of Mazniku’s travel to Barcelona and his stay in a luxury hotel.

“It is forbidden for a citizen to request or receive from and individual, directly or indirectly, gifts, favors, promises or preferential treatment which are offered to them due to their position”, AMT said in its report.

Shkëlqim Fusha is the owner of the company Fusha SHPK that has been granted the contract to tear down the National Theater and build a commercial complex right in the center of Tirana.

Fusha paid a €1816 bill in total for Mazniku’s stay in the Alma Barcelona hotel in the Spanish city where he retrieved an award for Tirana’s Scanderbeg square.

Fusha Shpk has been mentioned very often by the opposition as a favorite company of the Municipality of Tirana after earning contract worth millions of Euros.

It received €22 million for the Scanderbeg square only and has been promised the construction land where the National Theater stands.
