Albanian President Ilir Meta showed his readiness to appear before the Venice Commission on October 11, where the delegation that visited Tirana in the last two days will declare its opinion on the constitutionality of his Presidential Decree dated June 10 on the postponement of the June 30 local elections in Albania.

Meta is speaking in a press conference following the end of the visit of the Venice Commission delegation.

“October 11 is an important date for Albania. The President has not violated the Constitution, He has been an image of the Constitution”, Meta told media reporters.

Asked about the declaration he made before the parliamentary inquiry commission about possible attacks to the Parliament of Albania, based on information obtained on June 7, Meta said: "The day before issuing the decree on the elections, I had the information. That is true, I never told lies. I have additional information too. The Presidency responded to the Parliament and to the institution where the information originated from. It is genuine information. You will see the developments of those days. You’ll understand it was a totally crazy situation, which was also highlighted by the final report of OSCE/ODIHR".
