The delegation of the Venice Commission met today the members of the parliamentary investigative commission for the dismissal of Albanian President Ilir Meta.
“We received the necessary information in all the meetings we had and we will declare our opionion on October 11”, Kaarlo Tuori, the head of the delegation, said after the meeting with the commission members. The delegation paid a two-day visit to Albania to gather information on the Meta’s Presidential Decree of June 10 which postponed the local elections on June 30. The Venice Commission will give an opinion whether the Decree was in compliance with the Constitution of the Republic of Albania.
Tuori said the delegation had remained satisfied for the meetings it had with Meta, Speaker of the Parliament Gramoz Ruçi, Premier Edi Rama, and representatives of the opposition.
