An Albanian investigative journalist has challenged the newly elected mayor of Gjirokastra, in south of the country, to show his high school diploma.

Journalist Telnis Skuqi said Flamur Golemi has never finished high school. Golemi, who was elected after the monist elections of June 30, boycotted by the opposition, has written in his professional resume when he was a Member of the Parliament that he had carried out his general high school studies at the gymnasium “Janaq Kilica” in Fier, starting in 1992 and graduating in 1996.

But, in the form of the decriminalization Golemi gives another version, writing he started studies in 1990 and graduated in 1994.

“Simply said, the Mayor of Gjirokastra, 43 years old, has forgotten his past”, Skuqi writes.

“I challenge the mayor. I am ready to prove he never graduated in the gymnasium of Fier. If he proves the opposite, I will apologize publically and will retire from the investigative journalism. The games is on”.
