Former Premier Sali Berisha has denounced the anti-cannabis raids of the state police in the highlands of Kruja, 20 kilometers north of the Albanian capital Tirana, saying they have only arrested suspects of cultivating the narcotic plants but have not eliminated the plants. Berisha wrote after a tip from a local lady.

“The farcical anti-cannabis operation of Edvin the Drug (Premier Rama) and General Hashish (Interior Minister Lleshaj) exposed! Read the message of a digital citizen. She tells how 29 persons were arrested over cultivating cannabis, but their cannabis fields were not touched and they are all free today and irrigating their plants. Is this really a narco-state’s fight against drugs”, Berisha posted on his Facebook page.
