Albanian citizens will pay a higher price for fuel after Edi Rama’s government is preparing to impose a new tax on oil.

Former Democratic Party MP Agron Shehaj said Rama is a liar who is lying the same way he did with the toll on the Road of the Nation, which was canceled after violent protests.

“The government is deceiving the citizens by denying the existence of the new tax on oil. Rama is playing word games. He called the €5-tax on the Road of the Nation a tariff, but the name is unimportant”, Shehaj writes.

“The truth is this is the new tax imposed on unnecessary services, that doesn’t aim improving the citizens’ lives, but is only a new way to enrich himself and his oligarch cronies on the back of the poorest people in Europe”.

If the new law passes, the fuel price will increase with 20 Lek per liter.
