The monitoring mission of OSBE/ODIHR will leave Tirana on Friday after staying in the Albanian capital for a month and half to monitor the electoral campaign and the elections of June 30 for the local government. The OSCE/ODIHR mission stayed in the luxury Hotel Plaza.
There have been many debates whether OSBE/ODIHR will recognize the elections of June 30 which were postponed by a Presidential Decree issued by Albanian President Ilir Meta, who also set October 13 as the new constitutional date for the elections of the local government in Albania. However, sources told Syri.net that some of the observers have requested to book the same rooms for the month of October.
This means that either the observers have fallen in love with Albania and Albanians and want to return, or they know that the elections will be held again in October according to the Constitution of Albania and the Presidential Decree.
President Meta also proposed general elections for the same date, which remains to be seen whether will happen, but it seems the OSCE/ODIHR mission is taking measures, just in case…
