Albanian President Ilir Meta met US Congressman Eliot Engel in Tropojë, North Albania today, in the ceremony of naming a road the connects Albania to Kosovo with the name of the congressman.
President Meta said “there is no force in the world that may put into discussion the US-Albanian alliance! No intrigue allegedly in the name of the United States can divide it”.
“I express the greatest gratitude to the municipalities of Tropoja and Gjakova that have set the name of Eliot Engel to this street, but I am sure that his name is engraved in every Albanian heart that beats in Albania, in Kosovo and in all our lands and everywhere in the world.
Today, in his presence, I want to emphasize something very simple: There is no force in the world to put into question the Albanian-American alliance! Communism tried for fifty years to quell any pro-American feeling, but it did not succeed because the history of our two countries and nations is very deep! Albanians do not stand in this alliance as a people without dignity, but stand as a people who have historically suffered much from conquests and tyrannies”, Meta said.
