Chairwoman of the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) Monika Kryemadhi said today new developments are to be expected soon in Albania. The opposition is organizing another massive rally next Monday and Kryemadhi said it will be peaceful and the protesters will not fall prey to the provocations.

The Socialist Party won 60 out of 61 municipalities on the June 30 elections that were boycotted by the opposition, but the LSI chairwoman said the incumbent mayors from the opposition parties will not leave their offices.

“The mayors will be in office until their successors are elected from the elections based on the President’s Decree”, Kryemadhi said, referring to the Decree issued by Albanian President Ilir Meta on June 27 which set October 13 as the new date of the local elections, following his previous decree dated June 10 that called off June 30 as the elections date.

“We have another elections date, which is October 13 and so far we have not seen any appellation in a court of law from the majority”, Kryemadhi said.
