Former Premier Fatos Nano and his wife Xhoana voted today for the local government in Albania despite being highly critical with Premier and Socialist Party chairman Edi Rama.
Nano’s position towards his successor as chairman of the party has changed after voices Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj promised the construction permit to his wife Xhoana Nano for the construction of a residential village.
Meanwhile, other sources said Rama has promised him to fire President Ilir Meta and replace him with Nano.
Nano was the Prime Minister of Albania till Sali Berisha’s Democratic Party victory in the elections of 2005, which led to his resignation from the post of the chairman of the Socialist Party.
Today, Nano appealed to the Socialist supporters to vote and show their support for Rama and Veliaj, also calling on the opposition supporters to get rid of their current leadership.
