The legal adviser to the Albanian President Ilir Meta, Bledar Dervishaj, said the President’s decree for the postponement of the local elections is obligatory.

“The President’s decree for the postponement of the decree of the elections of June 30 is based on Constitutional arguments”, Dervishaj said in a press conference today.

“It has taken effect and is obligatory for all. The act of the President, referring to the Constitutional practice and arguments based on which it was decided, makes the presidential decree an act of a peculiar nature and no one else but the Constitutional Court can judge it”.

“The President’s Decree has been sent to the Central Electoral Commission for implementation and any other act is punishable by law. Anyone that is against the decree may make a case in the Constitutional Court or any court of law they think may judge it”.
