Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha has met today the chairpersons of the ally parties to consult them before his meeting with Albanian President Ilir Meta.
Meta decreed the postponement of the June 30 elections and will consult the parties for the new date. The meeting will take place after Meta’s return from Kosovo, where the President is taking part in the celebrations that mark the 20th anniversary of freedom.
Meanwhile, it is unknown if Albanian Premier Rama, in the capacity of the Socialist Party chairman, will meet the President to talk about a new date. Immediately after Meta’s decree, Rama declared the elections will go ahead as planned in June 30 and the parliament will see the possibility to dismiss the President, claiming he has violated the Constitution.
