Albanian President Ilir Meta met today the Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajcak, also Chair of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, OSCE.

The Albanian President appreciated the attention Slovakia paid to the Western Balkans during its chairmanship and the support for the Albanian candidature for the OSCE chairmanship in 2020.

“Albania will base on the expertise of the OSCE Secretariat and partner members, ensuring the continuity of the priorities of the former chairmanships, Slovakia included”, Meta said.

“It is necessary for Albania, during its eventual OSCE chairmanship, to reflect genuine democratic values, rule of law and respect of the fundamental rights, embodying the image of the Organization”.

Meta and Lajcak talked about the current situation in Albania and the President highlighted the necessity of an urgent solution to the deep politic, constitutional, institutional crisis through reflection and dialogue.
