Albanian President Ilir Meta supported the citizens’ right to protest, but appealed for self-control and said it’s very important that the protest planned for tonight to be peaceful.

The Head of State underlined that he has been and continues to be convinced that “it’s better for Albanians to protest for their rights and demand a better Albania than to leave the country”.

“In the previous protests some unacceptable act of violence occurred, that’s why I’d like to remind you that the rightfulness of your cause must not be tainted by unconstrained acts of certain individs”, Meta said in his statement for today’s protest in the Albanian capital.
