Former Democratic Party MP Enkelejd Alibeaj responded to Premier Edi Rama’s invitation for dialogue that the opposition will never sit in a negotiations table with him, insisting in Rama’s removal as a nonnegotiable condition.

Rama said in a press conference today that the date of the municipal and mayoral elections – abandoned by the opposition – cannot be changed because it would be a violation of the constitution. Speaking with host Bledian Koka of Syri.net, Alibeaj – a former Minister of Justice in Sali Berisha’s government – reminded the time when the elections were postponed from September 2007 to February 2008 with Rama’s request.

Alibeaj repeated the conviction the elections of June 30 with Rama as Prime Minister will not happen.

“In 2007, the elections were postponed from September to February (2008), per his request. The law will not become an obstacle as long as there is political good will for the good of the citizens. One thing is certain: The election of June 30 will not happen. Other elections with Edi Rama (as Prime Minister) will not happen”, Alibeaj said.
