The Democratic Party of Albania (PD) has condemned the police violence against the opposition protesters on Saturday evening and has demanded the punishment of its authors. In a media release, former Democrat MP Enkelejd Alibeaj said that PD condemns “the criminal violence of police against the protesters and the party’s organizing secretary Sahit Dollapi”.
“(Interior Minister) Sandër Lleshaj, this waste of the Albanian transition, will be held accountable personally for the unlawful orders to the police for the use of military poison gas and physical violence against peaceful protesters”, former Minister of Justice Alibeaj said.
“PD has enough evidence to put the sadist Sandër Lleshaj before justice for flagrant violation of the Law on the State Police”, Alibeaj added, appealing to the Prosecution Office to start immediate inquiry to prove that the order for police violence against the citizens was given by Lleshaj and Premier Edi Rama.
Alibeaj also called for immediate dismissal of State Police Director General Ardi Veliu, Tirana Police Department Director Rebani Jaupi and “the other criminal with uniform Arben Baro”, the officer who ordered the capture of Sahiti.
