Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha has appealed to the citizens to participate massively in the protest rally programmed for next Saturday, May 11, in Tirana. Speaking from Vau i Dejës in north of the country, Basha said this is a battle to make Albania like Europe.
“May 11 calls us in our battle to make Albania like the rest of Europe. When a government is caught stealing the government goes away, it is not the people that is punished”, Basha said in the meeting with the local residents.
The Albanian opposition has decided to boycott the municipal and mayoral elections of June 30 and has promised to stop them from happening, saying a corrupt government with Edi Rama as Prime Minister cannot conduct free and fair elections. Rama’s removal is the opposition’s nonnegotiable condition to take part in the elections.
