The Democratic Party (PD) will not send observers in the Commission for the Electoral Reform as requested by the parliament a few days ago. PD considers the Commission the same as the parliament, “illegitimate and a product of elections dictated by the organized crime and votes’ buy-out with crime’s dirty money”.
In his response to the parliament’s request, Democrat Secretary General Gazment Bardhi said: “A Commission that has in its membership and leadership individuals that should be in jail for electoral crimes does not have the legitimacy to carry out the Electoral Reform. A Commission that has in its line-up individuals that do not represent the opposition cannot define the rules for participation of the opposition political parties in the elections”.
By emphasizing the need for a genuine Electoral Reform, PD is convinced the Reform should be carried out only by institutions or parties that are willing to guarantee free and fair elections.
