High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini will visit Tirana on May 8 and 9 in the framework of activities for the Day of Europe. She will meet Albanian Premier Edi Rama and representatives of the opposition.
Her visit takes place a few weeks before the European Commission announces whether it will open the membership negotiations with Albania, on May 29, and a little more than one month before the municipal and mayoral elections of June 30.
Two days later the big protest of May 11 is planned by the Albanian opposition. It remains to be seen whether she will try to push the dialogue between the majority and the opposition.
